Fun piano lessons for any age! Thomas Hoops has over 25 years’ experience in the piano studio and has refined a method to keep the drive alive and the work fun. Thomas is passionate about music education and it shows with his deep understanding and caring patience in the studio. He teaches students beginning at 3 years of age through adults. Thomas has a vast understanding of how music works and easily communicates this to his students.
Thomas Hoops holds a B.A. in Music and M.M. in Music Education. He has won many awards and scholarships and is certified by the Gordon Institute for Music Learning (GIML) in Elementary Music level I. Thomas is a member of Music Teacher’s National Association (MTNA) along with state (CSMTA) and local (AMTA) affiliations. Thomas is in demand as a presenter and speaker on his unique approach to music learning. He also has experience with solo performance, rock/blues band, studio recording and sound engineering, and composition. An accomplished pianist, Thomas plays and teaches in all musical styles.
Thomas has special training in Music Learning Theory which is the cutting edge of Music Education. Whether the student is a beginner, advanced, or returning adult, each student has a plan for learning and success. Every lesson is purposefully designed with the utmost musical experience in mind, effortlessly combining fun and learning. Thomas understands how the musical mind works which allows him to be guided by the student to cater to their individual needs and goals.
Thomas Hoops is a strong believer in learning music theory and technique to enhance the practice of making music. Every lesson is a hands-on musical experience in which Thomas engages the student to “be” the music. This approach allows all students to have a rewarding musical experience, no matter if the goals are purely for fun or for competitive accolades.
