Philip Ficsor

Philip has experience teaching all ages and abilities and finds it a rewarding to help young musicians realize their musical potential. He started learning violin with the Suzuki method when he was four years old on an empty Clorox Dishwasher Soap box and a wooden stick for a bow! He continued with Suzuki until age fourteen, when he travelled to the birthplace of his parents, Hungary, and studied violin in Gyor, Hungary from grades 9-11. This is where he realized his true passion for the violin and music in general, which continues unabated to this day.

Philip holds degrees in violin performance from The University of Michigan (BM), Yale University (MM) and Boston University (DMA). From 2006-2013 he was a tenured Associate Professor of Music at Westmont College and is currently a performing artist based in the Denver area. He has taught at Valor Christian High School as well as Colorado Christian University and freelances in the Denver area, regularly performing with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra and the Boulder Philharmonic.

Philip is passionate about instilling in his students a love of music and to extend themselves as musicians and people. He seeks to discover the musical interests of his students and strives to find music they are excited to play because if they are excited, they will practice. Philip looks forward to meeting you and together discovering new musical horizons.
